  1. My Subaru Ambassador Journey

Subaru Ambassador National Road Trip 08-14-2021

The only good thing about COVID is it brought back an appreciation and love of adventure and exploration. What better vehicle than a Subaru Forester! We began close to home exploring the Wildlife Refuge and just taking a road and seeing where it will go.

But for this trip, we wanted to go somewhere we had never been before. We chose to avoid the interstate and major highways. So we pulled out the Road Atlas and charted the course to Prentice Cooper State Forest. Yes we own a Garmin GPS but when traveling the smaller roads, maps are still the way to go.

We chose to take our time and if someplace along the way piqued our interest, we stopped. If it was a photo opportunity we did so.

One of the first stops we made was this church founded in 1888. It was still early in the morning and the fog on the mountainside with the cemetery made for a spectacular sight.

After spending some peaceful time, we got back into the Forester and headed on to Prentice Cooper State Forest. At this point we were 30 miles from our destination.

Once we turned onto the road heading into Prentice Cooper State Forest, we were filled with anticipation.

After turning down one road we were amazed by the views and the rolling hills.
Taking a different path brought us a cruise through the forests on sandy roads. And then the road changed again back to open sandy base. We continued to follow this wide and windy road till we reached the bluff!! And what a view of the Tennessee River!

Leaving there we made a wrong turn and the road changed to a deeper sandy base and at this point we realized we were not prepared. Bill walked down the hill and investigated and we made the decision to turn around and head back the way we came.

We headed back to the entrance and realized it was lunch time, so we began to look for a place to pull over and shade as temperatures were in the high 90’s.

We found the perfect spot, shared about our adventures and as we prepared to leave an Outback appears at the trailhead next to us. I was so excited and they noticed the Subaru Ambassador shirt and so began a terrific conversation. Apparently her parents were visiting and they were amused how Subaru folks just act like they have been friends forever. I had a BOO I am Loved and a mini flashlight and shared that with them. You would have thought it was Christmas!

Upon pulling the Forester into the garage I snapped a photo of the tripometer. What a wonderful day and a great road trip!! Thank you #Subaru #SubaruRoadTrip #SubaruAmbassador
